Where Are They Now: Natalie Nalepa LinamBy Brice Cherry

Seventeen years after she stopped running for the green and gold,
Natalie Nalepa Linam hasn't slowed down at all. A five-time
All-American for Baylor's cross country and track programs, Nalepa
wasted no time in emerging as one of the Bears' first true female
running stars. As a senior in 1991, she won five Southwest Conference
titles--in the indoor mile and 3,000 meters and in the outdoor 1,500-,
3,000-, and 5,000-meter races.
Now Natalie Linam, she married a former cyclist on Baylor's club team,
Michael Linam '90, nearly five years ago. The couple lives in Austin,
where Natalie works part-time as a rehabilitation nurse during the week
and as a nursing supervisor on the weekends.
Nursing was a career Nalepa didn't originally envision, but she's glad
she stumbled across it. "I liked the sciences, and I thought it looked
interesting," she said.
Nalepa also does her share of chasing the Linams' two-year-old son,
Hudson Rayce. That is, when she isn't chasing the finish line. Since
graduating from Baylor, she has continued to run competitively,
including participating in a triathlon only seven weeks after Hudson
Rayce was born.
"But I haven't been able to get in as many competitive runs these last two years," she admitted.
