Urban Alliance: Student View

The question:   Do you prefer living on campus or in downtown Waco?

Liz Appling, senior

"Living close to campus definitely has its benefits, but downtown Waco has really improved during my time here. I think more students should brave the leap across I-35 and experience Waco outside of the 'Baylor Bubble.'"

Anne Langhorne, senior

"I would prefer to live close to campus, not only because the majority of my neighbors are college students, but also because I can save gas by riding a bike or walking to class and events. Also, Waco's downtown is not too developed yet, so it doesn’t have much more to offer than the campus side of I-35."

Matt Bueno, junior

"I would rather live downtown than on campus or near campus. I like to live not too far from campus, but enough to where I can relax and detach myself from the 'Baylor Bubble.' I think downtown has a lot of personality and opportunities for new experiences. It’s a beautiful and antique part of town."

Evan Bassler, junior

"I think I would prefer to live near campus because I enjoy being able to take advantage of on-campus resources like dining centers and the library. I also enjoy living close enough to my professors' departments so that I can easily just go and visit them."

AK Jamieson, senior

"I love the idea of living downtown. In fact, I looked into moving there, but I got frustrated with the slow building progress. Once it's finished, I think it'd be great to live there. It's just a different flavor than right next to campus."
