Visiting Voices: Dr. Story Musgrave

Out of This World
By Meg Cullar

NASA astronaut Dr. Story Musgrave, the only astronaut to fly on all five space shuttles, spoke in the Baylor Sciences Building on September 18 about life, machinery, nature, and his space-art photography.

Musgrave, a medical doctor with six other graduate degrees, said he made a mark in the space program as the lead mechanic on the Hubble Space Telescope because he grew up on a farm and then was an aircraft mechanic—and he believes there’s a lesson for others in his life story. “You connect the dots of your past, and you say, ‘What kind of assets do I have? What do I have to offer to the world?’”
