FORMAL AFFAIR:
On Friday, January 16, the Baylor Alumni Association recognized some of
Baylor's brightest and best by bestowing the annual Distinguished
Alumni Awards.
This year's recipients, left to right, are: Dr. Jerry Marcontell
'58, MD '63, a key player on Baylor's 1957 Sugar Bowl team and a
long-time physician; Alma Rohm '47, a missionary to Nigeria for
fifty-four years; John Lee Hancock '79, JD '82, a movie director and
screenwriter with film credits including The Alamo, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, The Rookie, and My Dog Skip; and Paul Foster '79, president and CEO of Western Refining and a Baylor benefactor.

SMART CHOICE:
About 135 attendees gathered for the annual Alumni by Choice ceremony
on February 14. The award is given to those who did not attend Baylor
but, by their support and love of the school, are clearly part of
Baylor's family.
This year's recipients included Dr. David Garland (pictured, left),
Baylor's interim president. Garland was on hand to present diplomas to
the awardees, but he received his own award from alumni association
executive vice president and CEO Jeff Kilgore.
