Belton Woman Honored

At the fifteenth-annual Baylor Women’s Brunch of the Central Texas
Baylor chapter earlier this year, Debbie Reese Potts ’74, MSEd ’75, was
honored as the Distinguished Baylor Woman. Potts began teaching school
in 1974, with stints in special education, journalism, and English, and
as a guidance counselor. After additional study at the University of
Texas Austin and the University of California San Diego, she became a
licensed professional counselor. Since 2007, Potts has been employed by
Chupik Counseling and Consulting. She was named one of six Incredible
Adults for Bell County Campfire International in 2006 and an
Outstanding Bell County Woman in 2008.
At Baylor, Potts was an officer in the Athenean Club, which became
Kappa Kappa Gamma, and was one of the ten Outstanding Baylor Women her
senior year.
She is Bible school director and a Sunday school teacher at First
United Methodist Church of Belton. She and her husband, Neale ’74, JD
’75, have two children and one grandchild.
