Presidential Update
Following their Homecoming meeting, Baylor regents issued a press
release with an update of the presidential search process. The
statement noted initial interviews had begun for the position.
“We are seeing a strong pool of candidates coming together,” said
Joe Armes, ’83, MBA ’84, chair of the search committee. “The candidate
profiles are diverse and demonstrate that we are drawing candidates who
have the attributes commensurate to the qualification we have laid out
in the Presidential Search Prospectus.”
Baylor officials declined further comment on the process in December.
Music Project Funding
An endowed fund has been established by the Prichard Family
Foundation to support Baylor’s Black Gospel Music Restoration Project.
Started in early 2006 and directed by assistant professor of journalism
Robert Darden ’76, the project is collecting and digitizing Black
Gospel Music and has made Baylor the largest academic repository for
such music in the country. Darden said that the Prichard gift has
started the process to fully endow a full-time position for an audio
engineer.
