Visiting Voices: Jeff Guinn

Write On

By Meg Cullar

Jeff Guinn, award-winning reporter and former book editor for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, spoke to Baylor journalism students on October 29 in Castellaw Communications Building. The author of fourteen books—the most recent being Go Down Together about Bonnie and Clyde—Guinn told the aspiring writers how he finds fresh approaches to well-known stories and why he loves being a full-time writer.

“One of the advantages to journalism is that every story you work on—no matter how apparently mundane—gives you a chance to hone your skills,” he said. “It’s better than being a pro football player, because they burn out in ten years. As a writer, you can get better all the time.”
