Baylor Black Alumni Club — Fall 2011 Newsletter

GREETINGS FROM THE PRESIDENT

This past year has brought about new changes within the university as well as at the Baylor Alumni Association (BAA) and the Baylor Black Alumni Club (BBAC). In September 2010, the university inaugurated Baylor's fourteenth president, Ken Starr. Baylor also conducted numerous Strategic Planning Sessions across the U.S. to obtain thoughts and feedback from alumni about the university and its current direction. The Baylor Black Alumni Club participated in the last planning session, which was conducted in Dallas, Texas, in May 2011. The results of these planning sessions are expected to be released in time for Homecoming.

The Baylor Black Alumni Club will continue to maintain its long-standing, cooperative relationship with the Baylor Alumni Association. The BAA has been a long-time supporter of the BBAC, and both organizations are excited about the continued relationship they both share.

As the seasons change and we begin to move into the holidays, it is my prayer that God finds perfect peace for you and your family.

Be Blessed and Sic 'Em, Bears,
Marie A. Brown

ENDOWMENT UPDATE

The Baylor Black Alumni Club will continue to maintain its current endowment of $38,000 with Baylor University. We were blessed to receive an additional gift of $15,000 from a Baylor alum to start an additional separate endowment in September 2011. The executive board will review financial investment options for this generous gift in order to provide additional financial assistance to deserving minority Baylor students.

If you wish to make a contribution to this endowment, you may send your tax-deductible contribution to: One Bear Place #97170, Waco, TX 76798.
