Alumni Spotlight on LeShai Maston
Former two-time all conference linebacker LeShai Maston was recognized as a Baylor Football Legend during the BU vs. Iowa State game on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Floyd Casey Stadium.
A native of Dallas, Texas and a member of D.W. Carter’s 1988 State Championship team, Maston earned four varsity letters with the Bears from 1989 through 1992, ushering the Bears to back-to-back bowl games, the Copper Bowl in 1991 and the Sun Bowl in 1992. He also led the team in tackles during those two years, accumulating an impressive 230 total tackles and earning consensus 1st All-Southwest Conference honors in 1991, and 2nd team all-conference honors in ’92.
After his senior season, Maston represented Baylor in the East/West Shrine Game, an all-star game comprised of the nation’s top senior football players. He went on to a5-year career in the NFL, playing with the Houston Oilers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Washington Redskins.
Currently, Maston is a 12-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department where he has risen to the rank of Senior Corporal. In addition to his duties in law enforcement, he is also the head football coach at Providence Christian School in Dallas.
A member of Baylor Football’s All-Decade Team of the ‘90’s, Maston received a degree in Business Management. He and his wife Myosha have four children.
