Heritage Club 2010

On March 27-29, the Heritage Club — sponsored by the Baylor Alumni Association — met in Waco. The club is composed of Baylor alumni who attended fifty years ago or more, and a new class is inducted each year. This year, the Class of 1960 was welcomed into membership with a Golden Diploma Ceremony.
Also during the three-day event, Heritage Club members heard from Baylor speakers, including track and field director Clyde Hart '56, Baylor chaplain Burt Burleson '80, and a panel of deans who updated the members on academics at Baylor. Some Heritage members also took a bus tour of campus.
After the Golden Diploma Ceremony, the annual banquet was postponed by an hour to allow everyone to watch the Lady Bears take on Duke in the Elite Eight. More than two hundred alumni enjoyed the game together watching a big screen at the Waco Convention Center. A jubilant cheer went up and alumni leapt to their feet when the Lady Bears beat Duke to earn a trip to the Final Four.
Class of 1960 gradute and former Baylor and Houston Rockets coach Carroll Dawson was the featured speaker at the banquet.
Bill '54 and Veta Cole Sherman '53 of Nashville were co-presidents of the Heritage Club this year. To see a photo, move the cursor over it.
