Heritage Club 2010
March 28-30
Sunday, March 28
- Begin your Heritage Club experience between 3-5 p.m. with check-in at the Hughes-Dillard Alumni Center, located at 1212 S. University Parks Drive. Nestled in the heart of the newest part of campus, the alumni center provides plenty of parking and easy access off I-35. Come pick up your registration packet and discover for the first time some of the opportunities planned for you this year at Heritage. While there, you may also enjoy refreshments, learn who else will be attending Heritage, and sign up for Monday's tours.
- Join us back at 7 p.m. for musical entertainment at First Baptist Church, Waco (located at 500 Webster Avenue, on the corner of Webster and Fifth Street). We will gather in the sanctuary to enjoy the entertainment and hear from this year’s Heritage Club presidents, Bill and Veta Sherman. Afterwards, you’ll have time to reminisce with friends at an old-fashioned ice cream social in the fellowship hall. Then it’s off for a good night’s sleep. You’ve got a full day ahead!
Monday, March 29
All remaining events will be held at the Waco Convention Center (100
Washington Avenue), just down University Parks Drive from the campus,
across from the Waco Suspension Bridge. Note: Washington entrance is not accessible due to construction. Please use Franklin Avenue entrance.
- The first full day of Heritage begins with a full breakfast buffet, served from 8-9 a.m. as check-in continues.
- At 9:15, we’ll gather for the opening session to hear from the legendary Baylor track and field coach, Clyde Hart. Coach Hart was recently named the World Coach of the Year in Monte Carlo.
- The remainder of the morning will be spent in two break-out sessions. You’ll have a chance to hear about spiritual and academic facets of Baylor from the university’s chaplain, Burt Burleson and Baylor Senior Vice Provst Naymond Keathley, and a panel of deans.
- If you’re the independent sort who prefers to be on your own, other possibilities await you:
- In the mood for golf? You can experience the great outdoors at Twin Rivers Golf Club. Call 254-848-7800 and tell them you are with the Heritage Club to arrange a tee time. Greens fee and cart are $30, and you must provide your own transportation.
- Any time between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., you can visit the Mayborn Museum, Armstrong-Browning Library, and Texas Sports Hall of Fame. Again, you must provide your own transportation. Just say you’re with Heritage Club for free admission.
-
A delicious buffet lunch will be served at the Convention Center from 12-1:15 p.m. Containers will be available if you prefer to eat in your hotel room.
- After lunch, you’ll have an opportunity to take a non-stop campus tour, with the buses conveniently leaving from and returning to the Franklin entrance of the convention center. (Your first chance to sign up is Sunday during check-in, so don’t wait to get your ticket!)
- After 3 p.m. is free time, so feel free to stick around to visit or go back to your hotel to put your feet up for awhile before changing into your evening attire.
- Members of the Class of 1960 will have a special gathering at 4 p.m. for the presentation of the golden diplomas and certificates and a class photo. Afterward there will be time for visiting with class members before the reception. Guests are welcome to attend.
- At 6 p.m., all Heritage members can enjoy a time of fellowship with other Heritage participants at a pre-dinner reception for everyone in the convention center.
- Then at 7 p.m., we gather for one of the highlights of Heritage, a gala banquet that will provide the perfect ending to a Baylor day.
Tuesday, March 30
- Before you begin your journey home, enjoy a full buffet breakfast, served from 7:30-10 a.m. at the convention center. This breakfast, which is co-sponsored by Baylor's Office of Gift Planning-University Development, is a perfect time to exchange addresses and get in one last conversation until you see each other again at next year's Heritage Club!
Casual dress is encouraged for all events, except on Monday evening, which is coat and tie.
